SCHENECTADY – Mary Wood, 80, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Ellis Hospital.
Mary was born on September 28, 1928 in Scotia and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Potente) Di Veglio. She worked as a matron for the Schenectady City School District for over 25 years, retiring on October 10, 1991. She enjoyed shopping, going to the track and playing the lottery, loved cooking and most especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Patty Osborne and her husband John of Schenectady, Josie Welch of Fort Johnson, Maryann Hendricks and her husband Jim of Florida, Yvonne Baldwin and her husband Donald of Schenectady and Barbara Horton and her husband Gary of Burnt Hills and six grandchildren, Gaven Osborne, Zachary Baldwin, Adam Welch, Theresa Osborne, Reece Osborne and Isabella Baldwin. She was the sister-in-law of Louise Di Veglia and aunt of Carl and Crissy Di Veglia, Lori Di Veglia, Dave and Maureen Adamek, Earl and Pam Manning, and Ray and Kathy La Freniere. She was also survived by her beloved cat, Oscar. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Wood; her brothers, Carl and Anthony Di Veglia; and her sisters, Rosie Adamek and Connie La Freniere.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
