MaryAnn (Soffey) Leonard, affectionately known as "Honey" to her beloved family, passed away peacefully on May 9th at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Colonie, to her devoted parents, Ann (Piazza) Soffey and Anthony Soffey. She graduated from Colonie Central High School where she enjoyed cheerleading and met her high school sweetheart and husband, Leroy "Butch" Leonard. They shared an enduring, profoundly beautiful and inspirational marriage for 61 years. MaryAnn was a graduate of the College of Saint Rose and embarked on a successful career as a computer Analyst and programmer after her time as a stay-at-home mom.
MaryAnn's path of resilience and grace through life's journey was cultivated in her three children: David (deceased) (Lisa), Brian Leonard (Sara), and Dyann Serravillo (Lee). Her grandchildren, Gracianna, Matthew, Jessica, Sophia, and Madison, brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially watching their competitions and games, and vacations at the beach or at the lake.
She shared a close bond with her sister, Catherine Atwood, and cousins on Newton Street. She enjoyed holidays/celebrations with her family including her niece Julie and nephew Quentin, daily conversations and events with Diane Prock Cornell & family and the Engelhardts, and get-togethers with her once a month club. She loved many years of winters in Florida with her in laws Sandy Massic (Vern), Deb Byers (Jim), Richard Leonard (Joyce), Gary Leonard (MaryLou), Carol Velix (deceased) (Bill) and several nieces and nephews.
Despite numerous losses in her life, MaryAnn remained steadfast in her faith and continued to spread joy and love to others.
