Marybeth Stoddard

After a long struggle with alcoholism, Marybeth Stoddard, 70, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at her home. 

Marybeth was born in Watervliet, NY and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Peleski) Pollock. She graduated from Shaker High School in 1972 and worked at Wool Worth’s Lunch Counter. She was later hired by King Fuels as a secretary and moved over to the Steno Pool for the Governor’s Office. She had a successful career with the State, most of which was in the Executive Chamber where she worked for three Governors. She ended her career at the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council.

She enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time with her family, working on her beautiful gardens, playing Yahtzee with her grandson, enjoying birds and animals, and walking on a rainy day. She was loved by her family and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Donald Pollock, and sister JoAnn Mancini. 

Marybeth is survived by her children, Liz Koulos Lynch and Jesse Stoddard (Caitlyn Fagan); grandson, Cary Lynch; siblings, Doreen Pollock, Sandy (Jim) Hayes, Louie (Patti) Pollock and Joey (Christine) Pollock; close friend and father of Liz, Kurt Koulos (Cherie Davenport); and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours will be held at , New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be on Friday February 21, 2025 at 11:00 am the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Watervliet, NY. 

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the sympathy, comforting words, and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
