COLONIE – Matthew Claborne Coleman, 73, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, Albany. Born in July 15, 1939 in Kinderhook and raised in Albany, he was the son of the late Martha and Charles Coleman. He was one of seven children.
Matthew was educated in the Albany School system. Soon thereafter he joined the United States Armed Forces. After serving, he was employed by General Electric. He retired in 2002 after 36 years.
Along with his parents, Matthew was predeceased by siblings Dorothy Johnson, Joan Bickley and Joseph Coleman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, June Coleman; children Tanya Coleman, Christopher (Cecelia) Coleman, Shawn (Erika) Perry and Daiwan (Tashea) Perry; siblings Edith Dixon, Charles Coleman and Robert (Sandra) Coleman; grandchildren Ja Quan Coleman, Tonita Glassford, Teayana Glass, Orlando Coleman, Kaliera Perry and Malachi Perry; Aunty Lizzy; brother-in-law John Johnson and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 pm at New Horizons Christian Church, 146 Catherine Street, Albany. Calling hours will precede the church from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
