ALBANY, NY – Matthew "Matt" Igoe, died peacefully in his sleep on his birthday, August 5, 2011 at age 32. He departed this world much too soon, but lived life to the fullest. He was employed as a correction officer for the Albany County Sheriff's office for the past eleven years. Matt is survived by his beloved daughter, Isabel whom he loved dearly. He is the devoted son of Vincent Igoe Sr. and Donna Virola and cherished brother of Vincent "Vinnie" Igoe, Brian Igoe and Trinity Virola. Also surviving is his uncle, William "Bill" (Debbie) Igoe and his nieces and nephew, Madelyn, Molly, Mia and Jordan. He will be greatly missed by his good friends Jay Wormer, Chad Dibella, Jon DeMase, Bert "Poppy" Charlotten as well as many others. Matt was loved by all of his friends and family and was a very humble and gracious man with a heart of gold. He was a gentleman in all ways and possessed old fashion values. Matt loved to camp and fish and enjoyed playing many sports. He wasn't happy unless he was out enjoying nature, surrounded by his friends and family.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions would be appreciated to the Matthew Igoe Memorial Fund at any Key Bank location.
