Matthew G. Richardson

ALBANY, NY – Matthew Gene Richardson, 49, of Albany, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 31, 1961, he is the son of Juanita Richardson and the late Stoney Richardson, Sr. Gene was a lifelong resident of Albany and graduated from the Albany Public School System. He is survived by five children: Geneasia, Ca'mel, Ja'mel, Anissa and Mikal; three grandchildren: Jon'Neasia, Na Marya and Zah'nyiah. Also surviving are his five brothers: Stoney Jr., John, Eddie, Elvis and Melvin Richardson; his three sisters: Lorenda Harris and Catherine and Francis Richardson; his special aunt, Cora Mullins; his dear friend, Faysha Tune and a host of nieces and nephews who will greatly miss his smile and strong sense of humor. Gene was predeceased by two sisters, Katie Macon and Annie Richardson. The family would like to send a special thank you to Albany Medical Center, Units E3 and MICU for all of their support in these trying times.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sweet Pilgrim Baptist Church, 24 Ten Broeck Street, Albany. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
