Matthew H. Waters

CASTLETON - Matthew H. Waters, 71, was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Matt was born in Hague, New York to the late Nelson Waters and Edith (Chase) Niles. Matt was a devout Christian. He graduated from Albany Business College, served with the United States Air Force, and would later retire from Farm Family Insurance as a computer programmer analyst. Matt enjoyed gardening, sports, was a life long Yankee fan, listening to music, had attended the former East Ridge Community Church, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Matt was predeceased by his brother, Francis Waters.
Matt is survived by his wife and best friend of over 47 years, Gloria (Mattison) Waters; his beloved children, Wendy (David) Fitzgerald, Lori (Christopher) Symanowicz and Matthew Waters, Jr.; his cherished grandchildren, Kristin, Kyra and Kaitlin Fitzgerald; and was the brother of, Janice Dayton, Nelson Waters and Judy Kenna.
The family would like to thank Dr. Weissman and the staff at NYOH in Latham and the entire staff at Albany Memorial Hospital, especially the CCD staff for all of their care and compassion shown to Matt and his family during his time of need.
Funeral services will be Friday at 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family, in Ticonderoga. Memorial contributions may be made to the Castleton Volunteer Ambulance, 1700 Brookview, Castleton, NY 12033, in Matt's memory.
