COLONIE- Matthew ( Taylor ) Tyborowski, 93, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his residence.
He was born in Schenectady, NY, on March 9, 1917, the son of the late Stanley and Walentyna Roman Tyborowski. Matt graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1935, and Union College in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in Social Studies.
He was an WWII Army veteran from 1943 to 1946 and was a graduate of the Japanese Military Intelligence Language School, completing officer's candidate study at the University of Chicago and Michigan. With the sudden end of World War II he never obtained his commission as Second Lieutenant, deciding instead to take a military discharge in April 1946, as a Private First Class.
Matt was employed at the U.S. Naval Supply Depot in Scotia for approximately six years as an Organization and Methods Examiner. He was employed by the Social Security Administration from 1952 until 1977, retiring as Assistant Manager after a total of 32 years of Federal Service, working most recently at the Albany District Office.
He was an accomplished pianist performing several classical concerts at concert halls in the Tri-City area. Matt also played in several dance bands, playing at night clubs in the Capital Region. He also entertained senior citizens groups in the Albany-Colonie area. He was a member of AARP, Colonie Senior Citizens, Beltrone Living Center Residents' Assn., Hart Social Center, Schenectady Musicians' Union Local 85, Union College Alumni Assn., and the American Legion Zaloga Post No. 1520. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel Cook Tyborowski, his daughter, Joan Cerasaro, and his sister Florence Murray.
Survivors include his wife Jean Tomlinson-Tyborowski, two sons, Robert (Maureen) Taylor and Thomas Taylor. He is the brother of Genevieve Gerber. Five grandchildren: Jessica (Todd) Sauter, Christopher (Erika) Taylor, Gregory Taylor, Mark (Maria Celeste) Cerasaro and Lisa Cerasaro Gardner,USMC and his great-grandchildren, Amelia Sauter, Johnathan Sauter, Christopher Paul Taylor. He is the step father of Raymond (Maryjo) Tomlinson, Cindy (Thomas) Dinardi, and Jennifer (Stephen) Nugent. He is the step grandfather of Mollie and Jillian Tomlinson, Raeann, Brenda, Erika, Thomas, Bryan and Adrienne Dinardi; Daniel and Emily Nugent and step great grandfather of Alexa and Aidan Dinardi.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:15 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to St. Pius X Church at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 3 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Saratoga National VA Cemetery.
