ALBANY- Matthew W. Mangan, 25, of Albany, entered into eternal life on Wed. July 16, 2008 at his residence in Albany. Matthew was a 2001 graduate of Albany High School and attended the University of Rochester. In the interim, Matthew worked at Friehofer's Baking Company.
Matthew was an accomplished & talented percussionist, playing with the Empire State Youth Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble. Matthew loved all types of music; classical, jazz, but most of all classic rock. In his free time Matthew was an avid reader, a talented artist, and played his drums with passion. He enjoyed going to the movies with his mom, grandma, & sister.
Matthew was a wonderful son who was loving, gentle, thoughtful & creative. He spent endless hours with his Grandparents; he found wisdom & comfort in their conversations & time together. Matthew loved being with his sister Vanessa and his best friend & brother, Michael. The Mangan boys were always together sharing stories, advice and laughter.
Matthew was thoughtful and caring, loved by all, and wrote beautiful letters. When he was away from home, everyone looked forward to receiving a "Matty" letter. His thoughtful words and beautiful descriptions made you feel as though you were with him. He is the beloved son of Patrick I. & Brenda Lee (Caulkins) Mangan of Albany, loving brother of Vanessa & Michael, & cherished grandson of William and Esther Caulkins.
