Maurice E. (Mo) Desbiens, 79, husband of the late Vera Kuhl Desbiens of Schenectady, was called home Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Albany Medical Center.
Maurice was born May 8, 1944, in Coaticook, Canada. He was 1 of 13 children of the late Arthur and Laurette Desbiens. Maurice grew up loving and playing hockey in Coaticook and the US.
He moved to the US when he was 16 years old. He worked in construction and then moved up to owning and running his own construction business, which he did for over 25 years. In his spare time, he loved relaxing and spending time with his family at their family camp in Sacandaga, and golfing with his three sons.
Maurice is survived by his son Ryan (Kathryn); seven grandchildren, Lindsay (Carl), Zack (Jenna), Serge (Alexis), Rein (Mackenzie), Kye, Leah and Adam, as well as three great grandchildren; Madelyn, Sophia and Wyatt.
In addition to his wife Vera, Maurice was predeceased by his sons, Patrick and Serge, as well as several brothers and sisters.
Services will be held in private at New Comer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Maurice's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org / 800-805-5856.
