Mavis Long, 91, wife of the late Geoffrey A. Long, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Glendale Nursing Facility, Schenectady.
Born, May 9. 1931, in Rochdale, England, she was the daughter of the late Francis Tansey and Phyllis May Alexander Jones.
Mavis was a synchronized swimmer in England. For over twenty years she worked for the New York State Department of Labor as a Key-Punch Operator in Albany, NY.
She is survived by her sons, Steven, Michael and Paul (Mary); her brother Frank and sister-in law Joan, brother John and sister-in law Sue, and sister Rita and brother-in-law Peter Zdgiebloski; nephews Peter (Cathy) and Brian (Judy) Zdgiebloski, Steve Tansey; nieces Christine Piazza, Linda Hagerty, and Joanne Robinson; step-grandchildren Sarah (David) Ciesinski, Russell (LeAnne) Peplowski. She will especially be missed by her dear friend Marilyn Golden.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mavis is predeceased by brothers Brian and Derrick; Sister Joyce and brother-in-law Arnold Wittig; nephew Buddy Wittig, and step-grandchild David Peplowski.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
