Nassau – Megan B. Flom-Corkrey, 48, passed away at home on March 20, 2009. She was born May 3, 1960 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Donald and Janice Flom. She graduated from Niskayuna High School, received a BA degree from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN and also attended Stratford School, Albany, NY.
Megan was a Family and Children Services Specialist for the New York State Department of Family Assistance, Albany, NY for 24 ½ years. In this position her responsibilities included extraction and ftp transmission of New York State's AFCARS foster care and adoption data in order to meet her twice yearly federal reporting requirements.
Megan loved music, fishing and being with family. In 2001 she caught the largest Muskellunge in New York State (53 ½ ", in the St. Lawrence River). She was a certified SCUBA diving instructor and an active member of the United States Power Squadron, achieving the rating of "Advanced Pilot".
She is survived by her husband Pat and four daughters: Lindsey, Dawn (Joe) Kress, Marianne (Tony) Ostmann and Shannon (Mike) Moran. She is also survived by her father Don, her brother Morgan (Susan), her sister Kris (Jeff) Johnson, her mother-in-law Alice Corkrey and several nieces and nephews.
Megan had a love for all animals, for the outdoors, and for the St. Lawrence River on our boat "Home at Last". Our love and friend, you truly are Home at Last.
A memorial service will be held 5:00pm Saturday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) Friends and family are invited and may call Saturday 3:00 to 5:00pm at the funeral home.
