Melanie Baker

December 20, 1949 — June 16, 2021

Melanie Baker, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peters, with her loving family by her side.

Melanie was the devoted wife of over 44 years to Barry Baker.

She attended and graduated from Catholic High and then continued her education in New York City where she was taught handwriting analysis. She used this skill to help non verbal patients at a Jewish Nursing Home. Later in life she used this same skill to council people with life goals. She was also the Assistant Director and a teacher at Jack & Jill preschool in Wynantskill for many years.

Melanie was an Elder and a Lay Minister with Poestenkill Christian Church where she was studying to become a Chaplin.

Melanie enjoyed spending time with her entire family, going on camping trips in Vermont and Maine, bird watching with Barry and spending time at the ocean. Her granddaughter was the love of her life and they cooked together, they watched cooking and court shows together and attended "Grandma's School" during summer vacations.

She had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. She was a proud "Hippie" and protested for peace in the 60's and she was in a musical group named, Up With People. She had a huge love of the Beatles which she passed onto her daughter. She was a very talented artist, worked with mediums such as oil paints and stained glass.

Melanie is survived by her husband, Barry. Her beloved daughter, Becky (David) Jones and her adored granddaughter, Angie.

Funeral services will be private.
