Melissa Hildenbrandt

SCHENECTADY-Melissa J. Hildenbrandt, 50 passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Glens Falls, NY the daughter of the late Joyce (Walker) and Elmer Gordon, II. Growing up in Colonie and Niskayuna, NY and later moving to Schenectady, NY for the rest of her life. Melissa was employed by KAPL Knolls Atomic Power in Niskayuna. She enjoyed doing ceramics and spending time with her children. Melissa and her husband, Wayne enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets and going for rides. In addition, Melissa loved going to see Journey and Trans-Siberian Orchestra concerts. Melissa was an outgoing person, whose kindness touched everyone she met. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Melissa is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Wayne J. Hildenbrandt and by her cherished children Christopher Hildenbrandt (Maggie) and Kayla Hildenbrandt and close loving family friend Joseph Galligan Sowers. She is also survived by her brother Elmer Gordon, III.
In addition to her parents, Melissa was predeceased by two sisters Bonnie and Valerie Gordon.
Calling hours will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12 PM.
Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Melissa.
