COLONIE – Melody J. (Bradt) Bardin, 55, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at her home after a long, courageous, hard fought battle with cancer. The Lord came and took Mel into his arms relieving her of her struggle. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Mel was born on October 13, 1953 in Albany and was the daughter of the late John "Jack" and Joan (Decker) Chidsey and granddaughter of the late Edward and Ruth Clarke. Mel was a graduate of Notre Dame High School & then went on to get her degree as a Registered Nurse from Albany Memorial School of Nursing where she worked for many years. She was also employed by Dr. Tamara Buono-Lund and most recently by Dr. Asma Niaz.
Mel loved relaxing with her family on several Carnival Cruises, vacationing in Florida and Vegas and her smaller gambling expeditions to the Racino. Mel spent many summers on Lake George with her family on their boat the "Cool Breeze".
Mel is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Bruce A. Bardin; her loving children, Nicole and Kevin Bardin; her stepchildren, Bruce Bardin Jr., Tonya (Rick) Maxstadt and Michelle (Jim) Margeson; her sisters, Sharon Case, Dawn (Wayne) Barile, Robin Eason, Bonnie (Ivan) Sim, Debbie (Ed) Baker, Penny (George) Bradt, and Tina (Steve) Earven; her brothers, John Chidsey and Ed (Leslie) Chidsey; eight wonderful grandchildren; several loving and caring nieces and nephews; her faithful dog, Toby and Mel's best friend of many years, Diane Egan.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Peter's Hospice, her doctors and all of her family and friends who assisted in Melody's care.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday from New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
