Delmar- Melody Wood, 61, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was the daughter of Judith A. Horne and the late James J. Dennis Sr. Melody is also survived by her husband of twenty plus years, Richard Wood, her son Bobby Wilson, daughter in law, Amanda and grandson, Chance.
Melody was an Albany native who graduated from Albany High School before going on to work for the New York State University System for almost 30 years. Melody loved arts and crafts, gardening, garage sales and spending time with her husband.
She is also survived by her siblings, James Dennis Jr. (the late Dale), Kathleen "Kass" George, Diane Gauthier (Harold), Donna Sawicki (Jim), John Dennis, Suzanne Eckler (Bill),Doris Pangburn (Ken) and many nieces nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the entire staff of St. Peters Hospital ICU and the Hospice unit. In lieu of flowers, donations in Melody's name may be made to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, NY, 12144.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York 12205. A memorial service will follow starting at 4:00pm.
