Albany- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mercedes Giron, a beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. After a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer, she passed away on March 7th, 2023. Born on October 30th, 1955, Mercedes was born in Manhattan, raised in Brooklyn, but later found permanent residence in Albany, NY.
She was a woman who had a strong faith in God and her spirituality was a guiding force in all she did. A gifted stylist bursting with creativity, her work was known from Manhattan to Albany. She was truly a kind and generous soul who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Mercedes always put the needs of others first, even in her last days. She was an indomitable spirit and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. She touched the lives of many people, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Mercedes was predeceased to her parents Geraldo & Mercedes Avila. She is survived by her Sister Cynthia and Brother-in-law Gary Lyons; Her Sister Sylvia Peters and Nephew Daniel Peters, Nephew William and his Wife Erin Peters and her Great Nephew Liam Peters; Her Sister Lillian and Brother-in-law John Spagnola, and Nephew Jason Spagnola.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
