Meryl S. Ruckterstuhl

SLINGERLANDS- Meryl S. Ruckterstuhl, 85, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021.

She was born June 12, 1936 daughter of the late Milton and Mabel Swanson.

Meryl was a graduate of Russell Sage College with both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. She worked as a costume designer at Russell Sage College and owned her own costume design business, Designer Creations. She loved gardening particularly many varieties of lilies. In addition to traveling the world, she enjoyed reading, playing the organ and playing with her beloved dog Twiggy. She will be dearly missed.

Meryl was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert F. Ruckterstuhl and her partner William Chaplin.

She is survived by her children, Sage Ruckterstuhl (Edward), Sara Melita (Timothy), Russell Ruckterstuhl (Heather); grandchildren, Beau Melita, Rachael Melita, Edward Reilly (Jen), Andrew Reilly (Ashlea), Katharine Reilly, Sally Ruckterstuhl, Heidi Ruckterstuhl. She was "mom" to Beth Patterson (Patrick) and nana to their children and her special cousins, Cliff Peterson (Carol) and Janet Jacobson (Gerald).

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 12-1pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A memorial service will begin at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, PO Box 508, Delmar, NY 12054 in appreciation for their "regular" care and compassion and all their assistance.
