ALBANY, NY – Michael A. Ofiesh, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones, after a lengthy illness. Born in Troy on December 5, 1918, he was the son of the late Antony and Mary (Saad) Ofiesh. Mr. Ofiesh was a graduate of Troy High School, Siena College and S.U.N.Y. at Albany. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving his country during World War II. Michael was a Professor of Accounting at Hudson Valley Community College, retiring in 1990. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Elias, Victoria and Rose. He is the beloved husband of over 67 years to Vivian (Giagni) Ofiesh, whom he married on December 27, 1942. He is the father of Michael R., Timothy and Thomas Ofiesh. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kyle and Eric Ofiesh and his brother-in-law and best friend, Vincent Giagni. Michael will always be remembered as outgoing and loved by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary) in Albany. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
