Michael Asdigian

SCHENECTADY – Michael Asdigian, 87, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. Born in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Alexander and Kayaneh (Bederian) Asdigian.
Michael graduated from Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades in 1943. He served his country during WWII in the Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, Michael attended and graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Michael had a distinguished career with General Electric for over 40 years. He started his career with the GE apprentice program and eventually became a teacher himself. Michael was a lifelong baseball fan and played in the minor leagues prior to joining GE. He became an accomplished ballroom dancer, and found great joy from dances and interacting with people.
Along with his parents, Michael was predeceased by his wife, Joan B. (Gibbons) Asdigian.
He will be missed by his children, Susan (Mark) Duncan, Judy (Tom) Hutson, and Nancy Asdigian (Joseph Pompei), and grandchildren Nicholas and Christopher Duncan, and Katherine and Zachary Hutson.
A private funeral service will be held by family. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of NENY, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, NY 12205 in Michael's name.
