Albany- Michael F. Brimhall, 84, passed from this life to eternity on January 28, 2025. He was born on May 6, 1940 to the late Horace and Agnes (Hurley) Brimhall. The oldest of five children, he is survived by his sister Carol (Vern) Cure and was predeceased by his sisters Pat (Jack) Clark, Kay Brimhall, and his brother Frank.
Known to all as Mike and his closest as Mickey, he was a graduate of the Vincentian Institute in Albany and then went on to earn a degree in Construction Technology from Hudson Valley Community College. He had a 35 year career with the NYS DOT in Region 1 designing state highways. During the summer months he would bid on Project Engineer assignments in the Adirondacks and take his wife, Diane (Foley) Brimhall, and the whole family on season long camping trips while he worked nearby.
His love of the highways and byways didn’t start or end with his career. In his youth, drag racing his 409 was his passion but after taking an early retirement, he spent his time doing what he loved most, ministering to those in need and most often by traveling here and there in his beloved RV. He also took several mission trips overseas to China & Israel spreading the gospel. Ever the conversationalist, he engaged people everywhere he went, regaling (with impressive detail) their stories to his family and friends on his return.
He was a prolific reader and a man who liked to laugh. Comedies, especially slapstick, cracked him up the most, often to the point of tears, and he told stories until the bitter end.
Mike leaves behind 5 children, Michael (LauraLee O’Brien) Brimhall, Shawn (Kelly Voorheis) Brimhall, Carianne (Thomas King) Brimhall, Jason (Christy Melton) Brimhall, and Sarajane (Michael) Leary; 11 grandchildren: John Michael Tonjes , Cayleigh, Calvin, Kiernan, Nathaniel (Catherine), and Brianna Brimhall, Taylor (Dom), Ryan (Abi), and Jessica Voorheis (Cody) Bryans, Evelyn Leary, and Cali Brimhall; and 8 great-grandchildren, Wayne, Payton, Gracie, Brantley, Fiona, Colton, Cooper, and Thomas.
