ALBANY – Michael Casullo, Sr., 91, passed peacefully in St. Peter's Hospice Inn, September 16, 2010. He was born in Herkimer, NY to the late Rocco and Antoinette (Tangora) Casullo. At an early age, his family moved to Albany where Michael resided until the time of his death.
Michael was a Navy World War II veteran, who served in the Pacific Fleet. He was a life long upholsterer and proprietor of Montague Upholstery Co., until his retirement in 1987, when his son took over the business. Michael continued to work faithfully, aiding his son with the company until 2007, at age 88.
He was also an active communicant of the Holy Family Church of Albany and a long time member of the American Legion Bucci McTague Post #1530. He was a known lover of animals and an avid fan of horse racing.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carmella (Petrucci) Casullo; sister, Viola Deso; daughters, Sandra (Alfred) Cutturini of Voorheesville, Michele (Owen) Burns of Colonie; and son, Michael (Marcia) Casullo of Westerlo. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; Alfred (Morgan) Cutturini, Mark Cutturini, Lisa (Tim) Gyurovitz, Stacy McHale, Chris (Lynne) Dowse, Owen (Andrea) Burns, Nicholas (Tracy) Burns, Kierstin Burns, Kimberly Burns, Michael Casullo and Matthew Casullo. He was also a great grandfather of 14, as well as an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Angelo, Ralph, and Dominick Casullo, and his sister Marie LaVoy.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
