SCHENECTADY – Michael was a caring and loving son and friend; he left this world suddenly on December 12, 2021 at age 55 to return to his heavenly home.
Michael was born in 1966 and was the beloved son of Maria T. Diehl and the late Wallace J. Diehl.
After graduating from high school and Hudson Valley Community College, he pursued an auto body career but found he enjoyed the work of landscaping to be more rewarding. Eventually, he changed careers and moved into the up and coming field of telecommunications.
Michael's biggest talent was the ability to create, build or invent whatever he wanted in just about any field – certainly, a god-given talent. His other passion was his love of animals; specifically, rescuing Doberman Pinchers – his current girl, Hannah, has just celebrated her 14th birthday – almost unheard of in the world of Dobies. Michael was an organ donor and his corneas have been donated to a person who will now see the world thru the kindness of Michael.
Michael is survived by his mother, his aunts and uncles, Patricia (William) Brockley, Elizabeth (Lawrence) Zimmerman, Margaret (Thomas) Dowse, William (Rosemary) Diehl, Kathryn (William) Lanahan and Susan (Bradford) Peak; many cousins as well as his four-legged friend, Hannah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Michael at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Christ the King Church on Sumter Avenue in Guilderland. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 30 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 or DRU (Doberman Rescue Unlimited), 52 Tenney Road, Sandown, NH 03873 in memory of Michael W. Diehl would be appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed at www.NewComerAlbany.com
