Michael H. Hoffman, Sr.

Michael Howard Hoffman (Papa Hoff), 48, left this earth unexpectedly on Thursday, August 18, 2011. Michael was born on July 12th, 1963 in Albany to the late Francis and Ann Hoffman. Michael grew up with many siblings and went on to have three children whom he loved unconditionally. He enjoyed spending time with his family, quoting movies and making everyone laugh. In his recent years he enrolled at the New England Culinary Institute of America and enjoyed showing off all his cooking skills. Any spare time that he had was devoted to his three children and his grandson, Garrett, to which he owes the nickname "Papa Hoff". He was a peaceful and generous man. To not smile around him was nearly impossible. He enjoyed fishing, reading, rocking out to Jimmy Hendrix and cheering on the Washington Redskins. In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his brother, Frankie and his sister, Jody.
Michael is survived by his children, Jessica L. Hoffman, Amber Nicole Hoffman and Michael Hoffman, Jr.; his cherished grandson, Garrett; his siblings, William (Jean) Hoffman, Brian (Kimberly) Hoffman, Joanne (Michael) Fitzpatrick, Catherine (James) Laverty, Judith (Lance) Valderamma and his sister-in-law, Ann Hoffman, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday at 7pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to; St. Jude Tribute Program PO Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
