Princetown – Michael J. Hickok, 58, passed away at Ellis Hospital on Saturday September 13, 2014 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Niskayuna, he is the son of Richard and Roberta Hickok.
Mike worked in the construction industry, holding numerous management and field positions for various companies throughout his career. He was a certified OSHA safety instructor and most recently was employed by Tetra Tech Construction as a Project Safety Manager during the renovation of the New Jersey Turnpike. Mike loved working with his hands, especially making custom cabinetry for homes. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends while competing in NHRA Drag Racing, beginning with the junior dragster class 16 years ago with Billy and was currently working on getting the Camaro back on the track. He also enjoyed competition target shooting and competed in the Empire State Games for several years. Mike was on the Princetown Zoning Board of Appeals , a member of St. George's Masonic Lodge #6 and the Iroquois Rod & Gun Club.
In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Sherry (Banks) Hickok; his cherished sons, Mike (Randi) Hickok Jr. and Billy (Kristie Abbatiello) Hickok; his granddaughters, Paige Hickok and Mia Abbatiello; his siblings, Patricia Weakley, Richard (Shelley) Hickok, Susan Rulison and Jennene (Robert) Perillo, his father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Esther Banks and sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Andy Lawyer. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his son Matthew Michael.

Memorial calling hours for Mike will be held Thursday September 18th from 4-7 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 19th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Cyril and Method, Rotterdam.
