ALBANY - Michael J. "Uncle Mick" Browarski, 49, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his sister Barbara's home in Edinburg, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born on June 19, 1959 in Albany and is the son of Ethel Marie (Mesick) Gould and the late Anthony J. Browarski Sr. He worked for Valente Memorials for 10 years and Park Wine and Liquor for over 25 years. He was a New England Patriots fan and enjoyed horses, nature and being with and around his loving family. He was a beloved son and beloved brother but most especially, a beloved uncle to his 19 nieces and nephews.
Michael was a man of many wonderful and endearing traits. He was a proud man, strong, though sweet and gentle. Loving, caring, and always giving of himself. Born into a large family, with 10 other siblings, although the fourth youngest of eleven, he was nonetheless extremely admired and respected for his family values. This was his life goal. No matter the time of day or night, if any assistance was needed, a call to Mike was immediately accommodated with his presence. No one could ask for a more loving son, brother, or uncle. We have been extremely blessed to have had him in our lives for the past 49 years. Although, he held no Degree in Education, he is nonetheless viewed by all family and friends as a TEACHER of Family unity, and values. He will be forever missed.
Mike, having never been blessed with any children of his own, treated each and every one of his nieces and nephews as if he had given them life itself. From the moment of each birth, Uncle Mick was there to provide what ever nurturing and care necessary, be it as simple as changing a diaper, to wipe a runny nose, a trip to the park, those unapproved pillow fights, or unauthorized extra snacks. As we grew older, each of us, his nieces, nephews, would receive sound advice when solicited, although not always the response we sought, it was always given with his unconditional love, and with our safety and well being in mind. Uncle Mick, because of these afore mentioned life's credentials, you have been chosen to provide the assistance in Heavens playground, be it just an extra push on the playground swing, we begrudgingly and with deep sadness understand you are needed in Heaven to continue your work. Our goodbye for now is only temporary Uncle Mick, we know in our hearts you are still watching over us, and will be the first to greet us at Heavens Gate. We love you so.
Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather, Ethel and Richard Gould; his sisters and brothers, Margaret (Roy) DeMarco, Anthony (Nancy) Browarski Jr., Paul (Yvette) Browarski, Patricia (Terry) Eck, Maryellen Browarski, Ann Wright, Barbara (Peter) Reutzel, Joann Merrill, John (Denise) Browarski and Joseph Browarski; his nieces, Margaret Ann, Bendie, Paula, Ashley, Jillian, Jessica, Jennifer, Nicole, Danielle and Kristy and his nephews, Darrell, Michael, Dominic, Justin, Anthony, Jonathan, Joe Jr., Shawn and the late Roy Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
