Michael "Mickey" J. Colasurdo

Albany, NY - Michael (Mickey) J., 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Albany Medical Center Hospital after a valiant battle with end-stage COPD and congestive heart failure. 

Beloved brother, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Michael will be dearly missed. Born to Michael L. and Florence (Fusco) Colasurdo on January 18, 1947, at Brady Hospital in Albany, NY. Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his brother Henry (Skip) Colasurdo. Survived by his cherished wife of 40 years. Catherine (Daley), his two sons Michael J. Jr. and his wife Dawn of Chandler AZ, Anthony (Tony) M. of Albany, NY, his grandson Nicholas and his wife Jessica of Chandler AZ, his great-granddaughter Ada of Chandler AZ sisters:JoAnne Gamello of Castleton, NY and Nora Jean Bouchard of Shrews-bury, MA, in addition to 22 nieces, nephews' grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Michael spent his childhood living on McCarty Avenue in Albany. Ever the die-hard Giants fan. Sunday games did not always have happy outcomes but as a true Beatles fan their good vibrations balanced out the gridiron disappointments. Upon graduating from Albany High School, Michael was inducted into the Army to serve during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. Honorably discharged in 1968, Michael joined the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local 7 as an apprentice where his father was a master plumber. Michael was a Local 7 union member in good standing for 55 years, certified on 4/25/24. During his career Michael worked at many local industrial facilities such as GE-Waterford, GE-Selkirk, Regeneron, BASF, area paper mills, area hospitals, area colleges, plus state and federal union mandated construction projects.

There will be no calling hours or Mass. A celebration of Michael's life will be held in the spring. Scheduling will be at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michaels memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society: donations@mohawkhumane.org
