Michael Scott Johnson

.Michael Scott Johnson (Messiah) was born on October 1, 1962, in Albany, New York to the late Elton M. Johnson and Dorothy A. Mennies. At the age of 62 in Pensacola, Florida, on March 22, 2025, Michael earned his wings.

Michael spent his formative years in Albany, New York and attended Albany Public Schools. He graduated from Albany High School in 1981. In 1982 he joined The U.S. Army National Guard. For several years he worked at Albany Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria. He continued in food service at the State University at Albany working as a cook in Indian Quad until 1999. Michael moved to Pensacola, Florida in 2000 where he worked at a G.E. Plant for over 15 years. He also worked at the Queen Mary Inn in Pensacola, Florida until the time of his death.

Michael was a loving father, son, brother and friend. Although he lived 1,334 miles away, he made sure to stay in touch with those he loved via phone calls or text messages. Michael enjoyed watching basketball, playing his numbers and betting on horses and dog racing. The most joyous time in his life was in 1985 when his daughter Ramiliah S. Johnson was born. She arrived the day before his birthday. She was his pride and joy.

Michael was predeceased by his parents Elton M. Johnson and Dorothy A. Mennies, his grandmother Marie Mennies, one brother Dennis M. Johnson, one sister Gwendolyn Johnson, his uncle Emmanuel Johnson, Godfather James Johnson, twin grandsons and his dear friends Steven Stewart and Jeffrey White.

Michael is survived by his daughter Ramiliah S. Johnson of Saratoga, NY, sister Robin M. Johnson of Albany, NY, 2ndMother Luvenia Johnson, brother Andre McCann of Albany, NY and sister Katrina McCann-Kilgore of Georgia, nephews Ricky Burton of Albany, NY and Donte Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada and niece Kayla Johnson of California, Godmother Barbara Johnson and Godbrother Derrick Johnson of Albany, NY and host of other relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 10am-12pm at Greater St. John's COGIC, 74 4th Ave, Albany, NY 12202 for all family and friends. A funeral service will begin at 12pm with interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
