Michael (Mike) Keys, 81 of Colonie, NY passed away on April 3, 2021 after a long illness.
Mike was born on June 4, 1940 in Schenectady, NY to Lewis and Julia Keys.
He graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School in Albany, NY and on June 16, 1962 he married the love of his life, Grace (Gibney) Keys. Mike enjoyed spending time and playing shuffleboard or darts at the Polish American Citizens Club. He also enjoyed watching football and wrestling and he loved any kind of music. Anytime music was playing you could find him drumming to the beat of the music with his hands or dancing with his beloved wife.
He worked for many years in the printing industry, stripping negatives for printing plates. He enjoyed and took pride in his work and only retired a few years prior to his passing. Mike served in the National Guards and received an Honorable Discharge in 1965. He was a lifetime member of the Polish American Citizens Club and loved to volunteer for their annual fundraiser events for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Most of all, Mike's love and devotion to his family was unwavering and he never ceased to amaze them.
He is survived by his adored and loving wife of 59 years, Grace (Gibney) Keys; his loving and proud daughter and son-in-law, Lori (Joseph) Campbell Keys; his cherished grandchildren: Crystal Keys and Christopher Fonda; his great grandson, Kaiden Marx, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Julia (O'Neil) Keys; his father, Lewis Keys; his brothers, Peter and William Keys and his sister, Teri (Duval) Keys.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Ellis Hospital for their loving care and support to both Mike and the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Due to Covid-19 there are no calling hours, but a private graveside service will be held on Monday at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery for the family.
