Voorheesville - Michael Daniel McGrail Jr, 60, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and longtime friend of Bill W became one with nature on Sunday April 6th surrounded by those who loved him. Michael spent time as a marine, traveled the globe and loved the great outdoors. He was a gifted stone mason, carpenter and science fiction enthusiast. Mike inspired those around him later in life by setting goals and achieving them. Most notably returning to college, and graduating with an Associate's Degree in addiction counseling. At the time of his passing, he was on the Dean's list and was one semester short of earning a Bachelor's Degree. Family lineage was close to Mike's heart and he independently researched and documented centuries of McGrail family history. Mike was an incredible story teller and had a wicked sense of humor. He had an infectious laugh that will be missed in all of his social and family circles.
Mike leaves behind two sons, Michael McGrail III and Brian McGrail, as well as two grandchildren. Mike is survived by his siblings, Tina (Dennis) Stephens, Charles (Lisa Mary) McGrail, Tammy (Haley) McGrail, Kathleen Roy and Lisa McGrail. The McGrail family would like to thank the wonderful hospice staff who attended to Mike during his last stage of life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to Albany Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 or Friends of Bill W. may make a contribution to the Capital District Central Office, c/o Schuyler Inn, 575 Broadway Menands, NY 12204.
