COHOES-Michael J. Peters, Sr., 48, of Saratoga St. Cohoes passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 2, 2012. He was born in Troy the son of the late Donald T. and Mary Frances Minnock Peters. Michael resided in Troy for most of his life and graduated from Troy High School. Michael was a crane operator in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne. He was employed for 25 years as Inside Sales at Zak, Inc. in Green Island. He was a member of the All Troy's Athletic Club (ATAC), enjoyed the outdoors, camping and most of all spending time with his family. To his wife, he was her "Knight".
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Janet Rafferty Peters of Cohoes and he is the beloved father of Michael J. Peters, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Amanda Sherman (Sean Kelley, Sr.) of Troy, Emily Peters (Anthony McFee) of Cohoes, Sarah Peters of Cohoes, and James Peters of Cohoes. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Sean Kelley, Jr. and Vanessa McFee, both of Cohoes. Michael also leaves behind his siblings Donald S. Peters (Kim) of Pittstown, Laurie Kotha of Cincinnati, OH, Linda Walters (Rick) of Bartlesville, OK and Matthew Peters (Michelle) of Clifton Park. Michael was greatly loved by his many nieces and nephews and God children.
In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his brother in law, Mike Kotha.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
