Michael Ross, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Michael was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 13, 1913; he was the son of the late Ellen (Marotto) and Anthony Rossetti. As a young man, Michael moved to the Albany area where he became employed by the American Meter Company. He later became trained in electronics and established a business in television repairs. He was predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife, Lois Smith Ross, whom he was endeared and happily married to for forty five years. Subsequent to her passing, he married the former Shirley Kennedy who also predeceased him. In earlier years, he was a faithful communicant of the Third Reformed Church and later the Boght Reformed Church. Prior to his death he worshiped regularly in the Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy Care Center. In the early years Michael and Lois enjoyed horseback riding, tennis, ice skating, bowling and family gatherings. Michael had a passion and talent for music. He especially enjoyed playing the accordion, harmonica and ukulele. He remained fluent in these instruments well into his 90's. All those who knew him loved him for his kindness, generosity and gentlemanly mannerisms. His daily wearing of a shirt and tie was his hallmark. Michael was predeceased by all of his siblings; Theresa DeMarco, Carmella Mazzone, Mary Zarcone, Helen Ross, Charles Ross and John Ross. He is survived by his loving daughters; Nancy (Ross) French and Cindy (Garry) Colloton, Sr. In Michael's eyes Garry was the son he never had and one with whom he formed a very special friendship. He is also the proud grandfather of Garry (Carie) Jr., Michael (Elizabeth) and Mark (Rachelle) Colloton. He is the cherished great grandfather (Papa) of Anthony, Alana, Jack, Tommy, Abigail and Julyan Colloton. Michael's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the loving staff that cared for him and enriched his life at the Our Lady of Mercy Life Center.
Arrangements will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Christian Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Delmar where Michael will be laid to rest along side his beloved wife, Lois.
