Michael Alexander Taggart

Watervliet - Michael Alexander Taggart "Tag," 49, was released from his earthly bounds on Friday, January 29, 2021. Michael was the son of James and Hilde (Betty) Taggart.

He is survived by parents, James and Betty; sister, Deborah Taggart; children, Dawson and Haley Taggart; partner, Tanya Hannahs; stepsons, Shawn and Philip Keck; former wife, Renee Cook-Taggart; Aunt, Lilo Shaffer and her family in Ca.; cousins, Michael and Denise Kish in Oh., and relatives in Germany including his cousins, Elke, Simone and Michael.

Michael received his nickname "Tag" from his family of co-workers at Trader Joe's in Colonie, where he has been a Crew Member for the past five-plus years; they, as well as many customers with whom he regularly interacted, have been deeply impacted by his passing. With his easy-going nature and crazy sense of humor, Michael touched many lives and left a trail of smiles in his wake. He was always ready with an encouraging word and a helping hand for anyone who needed it.

Michael was driven by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. He had a strong desire to see all that this world has to offer but was also intrigued by the possibilities of what lies beyond this world and this life. While Michael is now free to explore, there is no doubt that he will circle back regularly to watch over his friends and loved ones.

A celebration of Michael's freedom will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, on Friday, February 5, 2021, beginning at 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 pm.
