Michael "Mike" F. Vellutino, 48, of Rotterdam, NY, passed away December 31, 2017 due to complications from Lyme disease and pneumonia. He grew up in Guilderland, NY, where he brightened the lives of many with his kind heart and excellent sense of humor. He graduated from Guilderland High School, after amassing a great number of friends, and went on to attend Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL, where he studied studio audio engineering. One of his recent accomplishments was to graduate from Full Sail, of which he was quite proud.
Mike spent many years working in the music industry in different capacities, including a long-term stint at the former Guitar Center in Colonie, NY, where he helped both professionals and amateurs pursue their passion. He was a band member with several bands, mostly heavy metal, and was recently with Driven Further where he contributed as a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. His greatest passion resided in music production which he pursued at his professional home studio with his company, Velvet Productions.
Mike is survived by his loving parents, Frank and Joyce Vellutino of Guilderland, sister Anne (Charlie) Ellis of Perry, NY, nephew Michael (Katherine) Dantz, great niece Katherine Lillian and great nephew Lucas Steven of Rotterdam. He is also survived by his loving aunt Sister Laura Palka, OSBM, of Fox Chase Manor, PA; uncle Renato (Marlene) Vellutino and cousin Gian-Carlo (Catherine) Vellutino of Katonah, NY; cousin Ronald (Linda) Lassonde of Colonie; cousin Collen (Doug) Miller of Cazenovia, NY; cousin Thomas Thornton of Albany, NY: cousin Dale Csatlos of Arvada, CO; cousin Bonnie (Tom) Sawyer of Kent, WA, and cousin Noreen Ferrari of Wisconsin. He is predeceased by his beloved canine companions, Animal and Reggie.
A wake will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be said at Saint Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd, Schenectady, NY on January 6, 2018 at 11:30 am with Father James Belogi officiating. Interment to follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Schenectady Rd, Schenectady, NY.
