Colonie~
Michelle E. DiGiuseppe, 61, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at her home, after a courageous and stoic two-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Just as she wished, Michelle passed directly from her adoring husband's arms into Heaven.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on January 13, 1958, Michelle was the daughter of the late Irving and Carol (Goldstein) Katzman. Michelle moved to Chicago, Illinois, during her childhood and lived there until she moved to the Capital Region in her early twenties. Michelle's bubbly personality resonated in her ability to hold several types of jobs, including waitress, radio voiceovers, and administrative assistant at local businesses. Set up on a blind date by mutual friends, Michelle was introduced to the love of her life, Dominic (Marty) DiGiuseppe in August of 1987. Knowing they immediately wanted to grow a family, they welcomed their first daughter, Dana DiGiuseppe, shortly after falling in love. Michelle and Marty married on October 9, 1988, and completed their family with their second daughter, Dominique (Edward) Preston.
Throughout her lifetime, Michelle was vividly known for her innate ability to be the life of the party. She was friendly and vivacious enough to start a conversation with anyone, whether they were a truck driver or a queen. She enjoyed sightseeing, nature's beauty, laughing, and a great mani/pedi. Above all, Michelle adored spending time with her cherished and devoted husband and precious daughters. Michelle dedicated over two decades of her life to being a stay-at-home mother so she could actively participate in all of her girls' school activities and support them at home. Michelle was truly born to be a mother, and took on that role fiercely.
In addition to her beloved husband and children, Michelle is survived by her mother-in-law, Helene DiGiuseppe, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Her spirit remains vibrant because of the numerous stories of love and laughter she created throughout her lifetime.
Michelle's family would like to especially thank Dr. Thomas Goodman and his staff at Upstate Hematology Oncology for their dedicated efforts during Michelle's battle, and to The Community Hospice staff for their compassionate and gentle care.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 1, from 4-7 p.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michelle's honor to The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
