Albany – Michael John Carmody, 48, passed away Thursday July 17, 2008 at home.
Mike was born in Albany, a son of the late Francis and Virginia (McQuesten) Carmody and was a lifelong Albany resident. He graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1978 and served in the US Army from 1978 to 1994 as an Airborne Ranger. Mike was a lifetime member of the West Albany Fire Department and an avid Yankee and Giant Fan He enjoyed Military history and reading all about it. Mike will be most remembered for his fantastic sense of humor and his warm, contagious smile. Mike's family was always dear to him, but his niece Heather held a special place in his heart their bond was more like that of father and daughter.
Mike is survived by his brothers and sisters; James Carmody, Lillian Hughes, Tom (Robin) Carmody, Linda (Steve) Hope, Bill (Sue) Carmody, Laura Carmody, Cathy (Mike) Carlson and Jean (Cosimo) Lorica. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and three great nieces. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Gene Hughes, infant sister Carol Ann and infant twin-siblings Francis and Susan.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday 9:00 am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be Monday 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
