Milcah Auma Nyangaga

July 25, 1969 — June 21, 2019

Milcah Auma Nyangaga (July 25, 1969 - June 21, 2019) passed away at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts with her children by her side. Milcah was born in the city of Mombasa, Kenya as the fifth child of six to Senior Chief William Odundo Alella and Angelina Akeyo Alella. She reunites with her loving parents in heaven.
Milcah attended Kanga Primary School in Rongo County, Kenya. In 1984 after completing her primary school education, she proceeded to Mombasa Baptist High School while living with her beloved father. Initially, she worked in Telcom Kenya Engineering Purchasing and then later moved to the accounts department in Gilgil, Kenya. She transferred to Nairobi, Kenya in 1993.
Milcah was an incredible woman who strived to live life to the fullest. In 1997, she married George Nyangaga whom she shared common dreams as they brought up their two sons, Walter Henry Nyangaga (1997) and William Ochieng Nyangaga (2001). After multiple attempts on applying for a green card, she successfully fulfilled a lifelong dream of coming to the United States in 2006. She pursued the American dream with her family as she lived, studied, and worked in America. Milcah was a full-time mother, worked part-time, and diligently pursued studies concurrently. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan College. She put herself through graduate school and had a meaningful and demanding career as a Senior Auditor of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. God blessed Milcah's family with the birth of a beautiful girl named Esther Akinyi Angelina Nyangaga (2008).
Milcah was the foundation of a beautiful home and always believed in a healthy and secure family unit. She created warm and unforgettable memories for her family and friends. Remembered for her generous hospitality, charismatic nature, and joyful personality, all to cherish for eternity. She had an infectious sense of humor that could make anyone's day. She knew how to establish unexpected relationships and bring people close together in a positive manner. She modeled for her children the qualities she hoped they would adopt for themselves - faith, peace, love, generosity, kindness, aspiration to one's highest self, and overcoming obstacles.
Milcah got diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in September 2016. Despite this difficult news, she showed all the determination to fight it. She never let this illness define her. She continued to work and was always present for her children as she endured her treatment. She used every means possible, both through prayer and medicine, to fight her battle with cancer. Her family supported her throughout the journey. Her top priority remained the health of her family. Unfortunately, her mother passed away in March of the same year. Milcah had a solid bond with her mother, so this was an incredibly heart-breaking moment.
After a very long and tough four years, Milcah lost her battle with cancer on the first day of summer of 2019. Survived by her two handsome sons, Walter H Nyangaga (21yrs) and William O Nyangaga (18yrs), her precious daughter Esther A Nyangaga (11yrs), her husband George Nyangaga (50), and her immediate siblings (oldest to youngest): Mrs. Grace Woigo, Mrs. Asha Juma, Mr. John A William, Mrs. Margaret Owuor, Mrs Susan A Wolff, and Mrs. Jacqueline A Oketch.
