Mildred A. Black

Troy - Mildred A. Black, 80, born in Alcove NY, November 24, 1941, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, with her loving family by her side. Mildred was the daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy Glasser.

Mildred was a graduate of Albany High School and Albany Medical Center School of Nursing. Mildred graduated from US Army Basic Training in Ft. McClellan Alabama in 1960. She served proudly until her honorable discharge. Mildred went on to become an LPN and worked for Albany Medical Center, Albany County Nursing Home, and Catholic Charities, where she provided compassion and care to her patients and their families.

Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family and loved cooking, crafting and puzzles. She was a lover of all animals, especially cats. She had a generous heart and was always available to anyone in need.

Mildred is survived by her children; Michael (Valerie) Black, of Speigletown, Eleanor (Michael) Anderson of Lansingburgh, and Jessica Black of Rotterdam; grandchildren, Joshua Moylan, Tara Anderson, and Shayla Marro; her siblings, Joan Glasser and Martin (Sue) Glasser; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by her children, Barbara Moylan and Reginald Black; and her sisters, Yvonne Penrose and Edna Villarama.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Friday October 7, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held Saturday October 8, 2022 at 10am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad St, Waterford, NY 12188.
