Schenectady- Mildred "Matil" DeLuke Flynn, 81, passed away after a long struggle with lung disease. She was surrounded by her loving family and the caring and compassionate staff at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home. Mildred was born in Schenectady on November 8, 1924 to the late Assunta and Louis DeLuke. She was a lifelong resident of Schenectady and a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Mildred, or as she was known to those closest to her, "Vay" loved to dance. Her face lit up when a loved one went to see her. Her bright smile and caring attitude will be sorely missed. For many years Vay had worked as a dental assistant and receptionist for her brother the late Dr. Dominick DeLuke. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Carmen and James DeLuke and her beloved sister Louise Pepicelli.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Markle, son-in-law James "Red" Markle, grandson Todd (Tina) Markle, her precious great-granddaughter Halie Markle, her sister Rose Rubino and her brother Albert DeLuke. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Mildred, Virginia, and Mary DeLuke.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday from 9:00 to 10:15 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Schenectady. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
