WATERVLIET – Mildred Hinman Beaudette, 92, died on July 25, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born May 20, 1924, in the farmhouse on her parents' dairy farm in Manorkill, NY. Avery and Estella (Richtmyer) Hinman raised a strong woman, who was always a farm girl at heart.
Mildred's family has inhabited the Schoharie River valley since the early 1700's and the history of that family was woven into her being. It was part of her art when she went on to Syracuse University for a Bachelors in Fine Arts and Masters in Design. Millie, as she preferred, was a professional fashion illustrator, portrait painter, general artist, art instructor and distinct as the longest continuous member of the Albany Artists Group. She mastered all forms of artistic expression and was well known for her art exhibits, quilts, work with theater groups and garden clubs. Her support for the art community was a constant throughout her life. She had a true gift.
Millie raised three boys and must have had her moments. She was, however, that strong woman who mastered scouts, camping, wild and domestic animals, motor bikes, injuries and the authorities with aplomb and stoicism. As men, we are our mother's sons.
Married on November 12, 1950 to Raymond D. Beaudette, deceased, she is survived by her sons Daniel and spouse Nancy (Mass.); Jeffrey (Latham); Mark and spouse Debbie (Waterford); brother Robert Hinman and spouse Alice (Gilboa); granddaughter Jennifer and partner Richard (Schenectady); grandson Joel and partner Angela (Massena); greatgranddaughter Madison (Massena). She was predeceased by her brother Olin Hinman, sister Marion Hinman Gardner, and survived by Marion's spouse Edward. Her constant companion in later years was her cat Delly, who remains with the family.
The family thanks the staff and neighbors at Shaker Pointe at Carondelet for many things, not least their friendship and support.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday August 13th, 2016, at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a celebration of life service to be held at 5:00pm.
