ALBANY- Mildred I. Abate, 78, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 with her loving family by her side.
Millie was born on December 7, 1937 to the late James and Mary Gulli in Troy, NY. In 1962 Millie married the love of her life, Samuel Abate. They were married for 54 years. Millie was a custodian for the Albany City School District for over 20 years, and she retired from Key Bank in Albany with over 29 years of service. She and her husband were also very active members of the Watervliet Elks Lodge.
Millie loved to cook and bake for her family. She will be remembered for the many many parties and family functions she threw. Her passion in life was taking care of her family. Her family will cherish their memories of the family vacations in Ocean City and Cape May.
She is predeceased by her son, Michael Abate, and her six siblings.
She is survived by her loving husband, Samuel Abate, her children; Carmela Abate, Mary Abate, and Saverio Abate Jr., her grandchildren; Aaron, Connor, Samantha, Camren, and Kyle, and a host of family and friends, especially all of those at the Watervliet Elks Lodge.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 3:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 33 Walter St., Albany, NY 12204 at 9:30am. Burial will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
