COLONIE - Mildred Zubal Lebrecht, 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany after a short illness.
Born in Taunton, Mass. on September 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen (Bik) Zubal. Mildred retired from the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P) as a comptometer operator after many years of service. She was a devoted and very caring aunt to her many nephews and nieces. She was a member of the Loudonville Presbyterian Church. Mildred enjoyed going to the senior center in Colonie with her sister Anna to meet all her friends to play Pokeno. She also enjoyed going on bus trips and cruises with her husband, Christian and sister, Anna. Her favorite pastime was her mixed bowling leagues and never ending hours with her husband in the garden at her home. She also shared time with her husband at the Men's Garden Club of Albany.
Mildred is survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Zubal of Latham; niece, Jean Ann (Pat) McKeown of Latham; nephews, and caregiver, Richard W. Kendall of Latham, Robert W. (Resiha) Kendall of Fairport, NY, and James (Denise) Zubal of Spencerport, NY; several great-nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend and caregiver, Waka Salisbury. Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Christian Lebrecht, who died in 1998; her sisters, Eva Kendall and Anna Pirniak; her brothers, Michael and Anthony Zubal and her niece, Joan Marie Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Elaine Woroby at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday. Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens in Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Memorial Fund at the Loudonville Presbyterian Church, 22 Old Niskayuna Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Mildred.
