Milton L. Enfield (Uncle Miltie), 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Apr 24, 1925 in Albany, to the late John and Inza (Ostrander) Enfield.
Milton was a World War 2 Veteran, having served in the United States Navy. He enlisted at the age of 17, and served from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre. After his honorable discharge as Chief Petty officer, he returned home, worked temporarily for the Colonie Police Department before beginning a 40 year career with the Grand Union Company, retiring as a Meat Supervisor. He was also co-owner of Parkway Wine and Spirits in Vestal, NY. Milton was also a member of the Colonie Elks and American Legion. He also enjoyed his time spent with friends, watching the New York Yankees, bowling, Square Dancing and being surrounded by his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Doris (Dietzel), his two children, Eileen (Jay) Mihok of Guilderland and David Enfield of Maine,NY. He is the adored grandfather of seven; Justin (Breah), Travis and Stacie Mihok, Joshua, Robert, Mikayla and Thomas Enfield, also one great granddaughter, Ava Mihok. Milton was also survived by a sister, Inza Clay of Fort Myers, FL, brother-in-law, Gilbert (Nancy) Dietzel of Loudonville and several beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank, Dr. Garbo and the staff a NYOH, the nurses, staff and volunteers at St. Peter Hospice Inn and Community Hospice of Albany County for all the wonderful care and love given to Milton.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either Community Hospice of Albany County 445 New Karner Road, Albany NY 12205 or to Roesseville Presbyterian Church, 3 Elmhurst Ave., Albany, NY 12205 in Milton's memory.
Funeral service for Milton will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013at 8:30 am at the New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
