Mitchell W. Carkner
July 15, 1959 — May 5, 2023
Mitchell W Carkner, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 5, 2023, in Alcove, NY.
He was born and raised in Albany, NY. After graduating high school, Mitchell attended Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and became a certified motorcycle mechanic. He then worked at Greyhound USA for six years. He later worked at the Guilderland Central School District for 30-years and retired as a Transportation Supervisor, in 2021.
Mitchell loved adventure and was an avid outdoorsman.He always had a love for motorcycles and rode motor cross in his youth. Thereafter, moving to Alcove, NY otherwise known as "Mount Mitch". It is here where he enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, riding his four-wheeler, raising chickens and gardening with Joan.
Mitchell is survived by his son Mitchell J. (April), his mother Selma Carkner, his siblings Louise Kirkpatrick (Claude Jean), Paul Carkner (Debbie), Todd Carkner (Leith), Peggy Sue Carkner, Walter Carkner (Rebecca), and his canine companions Henry and Casar
His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Todd & Andrea Carkner, Brian Carkner & Dirk Manhin, Ashley Loya, Justin & Abby Carkner, Jessica & Henry Vickery, Brittany Carkner & Jerrad Keeter, Chantel &Caleb Derbyshire, Danielle Bramley, and great nieces and nephews Samantha Carkner, Logan Carkner, Dakota Carkner, Lincoln Vickery, Myles Carkner and Olivia Derbyshire.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter Carkner and his partner Joan Michael.
A visitation will be held on Thursday May 11th from 3pm-5pm, with a service to follow at 5pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY.
