Mitchell Dean Winkfield, "Mitch" 59, passed away peacefully at Hudson Park Nursing Center on February 17, 2020.
Born April 13, 1960, in Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Hattie Mae Nelson and Roosevelt Dabney. Mitch attended Columbia High School and worked for the City of Albany as part of the ground's maintenance crew at Historic Washington Park in Albany. Mitch is also member of Mount Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing his love and attention to help care for his niece and nephews, and appreciated good music, sports and movies.
He is survived by his sister Judy (Harry) Wright of McLeansville, NC; brother, Caleb (Irene) Nelson of Rensselaer, NY; and sister, Becky Nelson, of Troy, NY. He is also survived by a niece, LaShonna Clinton, 2 nephews JayShawn Owens, JahQuinn Daniels, 2 great nephews Jamai, Javion "JJ", and a great niece Alonna.
Family and friends may call, Friday, February 28 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. A Graveside Service will follow in Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY.
