BROADALBIN – Monica Elisabeth Currie Porter, 44, formerly of Santa Barbara, CA, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Inglewood, CA and lived for most of her life in California before relocating to Broadalbin. Monica worked as a travel agent for over twenty years. She enjoyed camping, hiking, gardening and cooking. Monica is the beloved daughter of Sylvia Pia Currie Mehrten and her husband, John Mehrten of Goleta, CA and the late Richard K. Currie, Sr. She is the devoted sister of Christina L. Currie of Santa Barbara, CA and Richard K. (Adriane) Currie, Jr. of Camarillo, CA. Monica is the loving companion of Craig Albright of Broadalbin. She is the niece of Linda and John Evans of Mayfield and cousin of Amy and Gavin. She is stepsister of Leslie A. Havens of Gloversville. Also surviving is her cherished niece and nephew, Richard K. Currie, III and Emily Currie.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave., Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210 or to the charity of one's choice, in memory of Monica Elisabeth Currie Porter.
