Monica Harriette Young North, born on May 11, 1942, in Mount Vernon, New York, passed away on April 7, 2024, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She was the beloved daughter of Wilton Montgomery Young and Harriette Nellist Young.
Monica leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph James North; her sons J Gardner and Andrew Ion Wilton; her son Joseph Chad Montgomery; and her daughter Alix Hilary North Dunaway.
Throughout Monica's life she wore many hats with grace and determination. As a mother, she was tenacious in nurturing and guiding her children through life's challenges with unwavering support and love. Her dedication to them knew no bounds.
Professionally, Monica made an indelible mark as an interior designer in New York City where she showcased her artistic talents across various mediums. She also owned the Pompeii Museum gallery in Saratoga Springs where she shared the work of talented artists with the world.
In addition to these accomplishments, Monica found fulfillment teaching preschool in Arbor Hill NY where she touched countless young lives with kindness and wisdom. Her tireless volunteer work reflected her Christian values as she observed charity in all its forms.
A woman of faith first and foremost, Monica will be remembered for embodying compassion towards others regardless of their circumstances or background.
The funeral service will be held at The Cathedral of All Saints, 62 S. Swan Street, Albany on Tuesday, April 16th at 10 AM. Interment will be at a later date next to her loving parents at Avon Cemetery in Avon, NY.
Monica Harriette Young North will forever be cherished for the impact she had on those around her - from family members who adored her unconditionally to friends whose lives were enriched by knowing such a remarkable soul.
