ALBANY-Monique Janson Hynes was born into eternal life on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Kingston Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Montreal, Canada on July 15, 1944, she was the daughter of Phillippe and Louise Janson, who predeceased her. Monique attended George Wingate high school and the American Institute of Banking. Monique began her career at Sherman and Sterling Law Firm in New York City, where she met her best friend and soul mate, Les Hynes. They married in 1967 and resided in Connecticut while Les finished his studies at the Culinary Institute of America.
Thereafter, Monique and Les relocated to the Albany area to pursue their careers at SUNY Albany where she worked in the Admissions and Registrars offices for over 25 years. She enjoyed her work with veteran's affairs and putting together the orientation program with her good friend and colleague, Mary Schimley.
Monique cherished her time with her family and grandchildren. While raising her sons, she rarely missed the boys sporting events with football and swimming, and still enjoyed attending every school event with her granddaughter. She looked forward to her vacation every year with her husband in Wells Beach, Maine. Monique was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie for over 25 years.
Monique is survived by her husband, Lester Hynes; sons Michael (Valerie) Hynes of Niskayuna and John (Beth) Hynes of Schoharie; three grandchildren Lauren, Devon and Rian; a sister Nicole (Henry) Rault of Deerfield Beach, Florida; a brother Steve (Judy) Janson of Cartersville, Georgia; brother in law Peter M.(Anne) Hynes of Poughkeepsie; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Kingston Hospital for their care and compassion over the past few weeks.
