Albany – Morriscenia L. "Sis" Owens, 79 passed away peacefully Tuesday November 2, 2010 surrounded by her loving family after a brief battle with cancer.
Sis was born in Albany the daughter of the late Ralph Springsteen and Helen Chisholm and was a lifelong area resident. She worked as Registered Nurse for many years, first with Albany Medical Center then with Stratton VA Medical Center and most recently with SCAP (Schenectady County Head Start) where she retired from. She enjoyed cooking and traveling but loved spending time with family and friends who she informally referred to as "Funny Looking Duck".
Sis is survived by her loving daughters: Helen M. Pauline, Therese A. Pauline, son Arthur (Renee) Clow, Jr., 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, sister Mabelle Barnette of New Hampshire brother Rodney Chisholm of Texas special friends Arthur Green and James Pauline, father of her children and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Arthur Clow, Sr., her son Garry H. Springsteen, grandson Garry U. Springsteen, sister Portia (Humpty) Neal, and brothers Ralph Springsteen and Teddy Chisholm, Jr.
The family would like to thank Schenectady County Community Hospice for their care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, Walter St., North Albany. A calling hour will precede the service from 9:00 to 10:00am at the church. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 260 Osborn Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
