Muriel B. Golon, 80, formerly of Colonie and Delaware County, died peacefully on August 4, 2009 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness.
Born in Jamaica, New York on June 24, 1929, Muriel spent most of her days in the Capital Region. She worked as a federal employee for over 25 years, serving both with the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration.
Muriel was known among friends and family as a pillar of strength. Always smiling, she was a bright light in the lives of everyone who was blessed to know her.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Thomas) Jerome of East Greenbush, her son John (Caren) Golon of Madeira Beach, FL; her grandchildren David Jerome of Colonie, Tammy (Sharf) Din of Colonie, and Jonathan (Laura) Golon of Guilderland; her great-grandchildren Mariam, Hosin, Jamal and Shadeh; her great-great-grandchildren, Nuriya and Parisa. Also feeling her loss deeply are her guardian angels-Bonnie, Janet, Kathi, Lizzie, Lynn, Nicole and Tara.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday August 8, 2009, from 10am-12pm at New Comer-Cannon, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, followed by her burial in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
